The Republican National Convention hopes to deflate Obama’s campaign by exposing his weak points and showing America his campaign is “fluff”. This cartoon depicts an elephant with a tarp on his back reading “Republican National Convention”. Often seen in circuses and also the symbol of the Republican Party, in this cartoon, the elephant conveys that the election has become a “political circus” with Obama on the bottom. The elephant is standing on a ball, that ball has the Obama “O” logo on it. The Obama “O” logo represents the dawning of a new day for America under Obama which is represented by the rising sun and America is represented through the red and white stripes. Also in the cartoon the Obama “O” ball is being deflated by the elephant which symbolizes that Obama’s campaign is full of “hot” air. Obama’s campaign has no substance, and the Republican National Convention is going to flatten it.
