McCain’s goals for technology are aimed at helping the population in general while Obama’s goals are more geared to the individual.
McCain wants to maintain America's position as a world leader in technology. He would use technology to find cleaner energy and improve health care and education. Technology is the key to a skilled workforce and opening global markets. He is also focused on protecting intellectual rights, which means if you come up with idea he will try to legally protect your idea from others prospering off of your hard work.
Obama is concerned with making technology accessible to all Americans as a way to unite our country. He would expand that idea to connect us globally with the rest of the world to share ideas. He would use the internet to make a transparent and connected democracy where average Americans would feel more involved in government. Another thing he wants to do is to maintain the openness of the internet and invest in science and research.
While their methods may be different, both candidates want to use technology to create a stronger America.
